Lukashenka pledges full economic liberalization

Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenka on December 18 held a working meerting with Belarus Prime Minister Siarhei Sidorski and Central Bank Chairman Piotr Prakapovich. The official news agency Belta reports that the meeting was organized in the framework of preparations of Alexander Lukashenka's meeting with the Russian president on December 22. Among other issues, the meeting discussed the issues of economic liberalization in Belarus. The program of priority measures was approved on December 1, 2008. 

The plan envisages that the current laws will be amended to improve the licensing, pricing, registration procedures. It is also planned to simplify the taxation system. The majority of the measures will have to be implemented by the end of 2008, according to the plan.
