Tensions between Minsk
and Moscow have heightened to a point where
"Russia can lose Belarus and Belarus
can lose Russia,"
the state-controlled newspaper Izvestiya quotes the Belarusian leader as saying
in an interview to Russian journalists published on June 5.Alyaksandr Lukashenka accused Russia of
having "closed the market to Belarusian goods." “On the one hand, it
is good that we have diversified our foreign trade. But we have done so not
because we have set ourselves such a goal and come to this but because the
Russian Federation has driven us out of its market to such an extent,” BelaPAN
quoted him as saying.
