Lukashenka’s visit to Brest almost disrupts Rymasheuski’s registration
Brest police released Zmitser Shukhrai, the head of Vital Rymasheuski’s regional team, on Thursday evening. They returned almost 5 thousand signatures collected in support of the BCD leader to Mr. Shurhai. The activist’s car was stopped by driving inspectors on October 28. Shurhai was suspected of forging his driving license. However, he had been using the license for more than five years without any problems. At the same time, policemen drew up a report for a completely different reason. Zmitser Shukhrai has informed ERB about it. Zmitser Shukhrai: “At first they informed me that they would find out whether my driving license was fake or not. However, when the investigator started interrogating me it turned out they had already drawn up a report against me. It was written by a driving inspector. According to the report, I did not obey him and used bad language”.
As ERB has already informed, Zmitser Shukhrai and his friend Yury Bakur were returning to Brest from the provinces. They were going to deliver signatures collected in support of Vital Rymasheuski there. According to Shurhai, Bakur took the signatures out of the car and left Moscow District Department of the Interior when he was being delivred to the police office. Such actions resulted in a real “intercept” operation in Brest.
Zmitser Shukhrai: “I phoned him and said they were drawing up a report against me. He took the signatures and left. The policemen started “pressing for it”: who was that, why did he leave? They started looking for him. In the end he was detained with the signatures in another part of the city and delivered to Brest Lenin District Department of the Interior”.
Activists were saved thanks to the attention paid by mass media. According to Shukhrai, the head of the local department approached when a report was being drawn up against him and ordered to stop it. Yury Bakur’s detention ended in the same way. The head of the regional election team has managed to keep all the signatures. But the incident made him worry.
Let us remind you that Alyaksandr Lukashenka is going to visit Brest today, on October 29.
