Medvedev to Lukashenka: There can be no collective recognition

The Russian President Dmitrii Medvedev has called the reaction of “Russia’s nearest neighbours” to its actions in South Ossetia “totally unbiassed”. He touched upon the issue of recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia Russia had been expecting from other states in his yesterday’s interview with Russian TV channels. "The recognition is an individual matter of each state. There can be no collective actions about it”, - noted Medvedev.

Let us remind you that Alyaksandr Lukashenka sent a letter to the Russian President on August 28. He suggested discussing the issue of recognition of the independence of the self-announced republics by the Collective Security Council “in order to elaborate a consolidated position of member states”. The meeting is appointed for September 5, reminds BelaPAN.
