Memorial tablet in honour of Orsha Battle heroes to be installed today
A memorial tablet in honour of the battle between Belarusian warriors and Moscow host that took place on September 8, 1514 will be installed in Krapivenskaye Field in Orsha district. The host of the Great Duchy of Lithuania leaded by hetman Konstantsin Ostrozhskii celebrated a brilliant victory over the host of Moscow that exceeded it by several times.
The draft of the tablet was made by an artist Ales Pushkin while the text was written by Uladzimir Arlou: “May the memory of the heroes of Orsha victory of September 8, 1514 live forever”. In a phone talk directly in Krapivenskaye Field Ales Pushkin described the tablet to ERB:
“It is made of christianite. The tablet is big; its length is 140 cm while its width is 80 cm. There will be a black shield with the text and a Pahonya corresponding to the style of the 16th century attached to the stone”.
It is planned that the opening ceremony will be dated for September 8. It will take place during a traditional festival of bard songs.
