Milinkeich: Opposition should back government's effort to improve relations with EU

Alyaksandr Milinkevich, leader of the Movement for Freedom, told his supporters in Karma, Homyel region, that the opposition should back the government's effort to improve ties with the European Union, noting that the bloc could help reduce Belarus' dependence on Russia, Telegraf reported.
"The Belarusian leader fears that European values may weaken his authoritarian government. But if they refuse to cooperate with the EU, they will lose both power and the country much faster together with independence," Milinkevich was quoted as saying.
