Military registration office in Pruzhany reports retired soldiers to KGB
The document was unexpectedly handed to him at the Linouski village council.
Mikola Papeka read it out to the European Radio for Belarus and offered his comments. The statement wrote: “Since I was allowed access to state secrets, I give my consent to the checks to be carried out by the national security bodies, including a temporary restriction on my right of privacy in this regard”. Papeka said: “ I do not request any secrets, yet they had already given them to me. In a statement on my behalf to the district’s military commissioner, they write that I ask some nonsense. By the way, commissioner’s name was not mentioned”.
Mikola Papeka described this document as “crazy” and refused to sign it.
Mikhail Sen, an officer at the Pruzhany military registration office, explained: “Papeka is registered as an officer in reserve. There are territorial troops that are being formed. There will be no problems with crossing the border. A package of documents and a photograph are gathered and filed. We will not pass them anywhere further.
ERB: But aren’t his privacy rights are violated?
Sen: What rights?
ERB: Privacy rights.
Sen: Officers, warrant officers and men in reserve can be drafted and serve in the army if they receive this order. As for Papeka, I told my staff to keep hi file aside. I will summon him officially and will explain everything personally.
