Ministry of Justice to try to suspend BCP on July 31
A meeting of the Supreme Court of Belarus concerning the appeal of the Ministry of Justice on suspension of activities of the Belarusian Communist Party is planned for July 31. “Communists are the first opposition’s party in Belarus to experince the new form of repressions of the legislation”, - is said in the appeal of the BCP. – A possibility to suspend activities of parties for up to 6 months has been added to the Law of the Republic of Belarus in the summer of 2005”.
The Ministry of Justice demands that the Supreme Court should punish the BCP and suspend its activities for six months.
The hearing will start at 10 a.m. The head of the BCP Suarhey Kalyakin will be defending his party.
