Minsk: Abolishment of trade preferences is EU's short-sighted step
The Belarus's Foreign Ministry said it met the abolishment fo EU's trade preferences for exports from Belarus "with lack of comprehension." The Belarusian Foreign Ministry described this decision as "a short-sighted step towards an immediate neighbor" and expressed hope that the decision was soon to be reconsidered and reversed.
According to the official Minsk, "the economic damage that our partners in the EU will suffer cannot be justified by opportunistic reasons".
The EU Council's decision to abolish trade preferences for Belarus came into force on June 21. Belarus will lose $300-400 million annually due to the sanction.
