Minsk concerned over Soros interest in Belarus

The Information and Analytical Center at the Office of the Belarusian President is concerned over the need "to make a breakthrough" in relations with the United States. The think tank's senior expert, Yury Tsaryk, wrote in Narodnaya Gazeta newspaper that "the final normalization of relations with the European Union is hardly possible without coordination of positions between Minsk and Washington".
It appears that the analysts from the Office of the President are now trying to come up with ideas of how to grab US State Department's attention towards Belarus. Yury Tsaryk notes that the new administration of Barack Obama has faced "a vacuum of ideas and understanding of Belarus and Eastern Europe as a whole".

"As a result, there is a great risk that the policy towards this regions will be formed backstage and by the political subjects who are least interested in a constructive development of the situation in the region", writes Tsaryk. He is concerned that the circles associated with George Soros have displayed interest to the issue of relations with Minsk. He describes Soros as "one of those who sponsored Barack Obama's presidential campaign and a harsh opponent to the idea of the Belarus-Russia union".

Apparently, Minsk is now working to develop "a principally new platform for relations", which it is going to propose to the US State Department and the US president. "Americans should see that they have something to talk about with us", writes an expert of the Belarus president administration's think tank.
