Minsk could make $2mn on fines for satellite dishes

The Minsk city hall is drafting a resolution to regulate the installment of air conditioners and satellite antennas on the facades of the buildings in the capital, Viktar Nikicin, Minsk chief architect, told the Belta news agency.

According to Nikicin, authorities have lost control over the process of installation, saying only 40 out of 10500 antennas were mounted in line with the requirements of the local administrations.

He also said that most of 2500 conditioners in Minsk were installed without a prior design, this creating potentially danagerous situations.

Under the Administrative Code, citizens can be fined with 2-15 basic rates for unauthorized installation of conditioners and antennas. Thus, the city can earn from Br620million to Br4650 million on satellite dishes alone.
