Minsk student arrested for action in support of Union of Poles in Belarus

The administration commission of Minsk Frunze District fined an activist of the steering committee for creation of the BCD Iryna Hubskaya for 175 thousand rubles on February 24. The commission returned her guilty of violation of the rules of maintenance of order in inhabited localities, informs BelaPAN.

Hubskaya was detained on the night of February 16 in Minsk. Three young opposition activists conducted an action in support of the informal Union of Poles in Belarus headed by Anzhalika Borys. White-red-white stickers with the inscription Wolna Bialorus (“Free Belarus”) appeared on the walls of the subway station “Lenin Square”, on the building of Belarusian State University and of Minsk City Executive Committee.

The activist was detained by security guards of Minsk City Executive Committee. The police arrived later and delivered the activist to Moscow District Department of the Interior. She was released three hours later.

The 18-year-old student Iryna Hubskaya is running for a deputy seat in Minsk City Council.
