Moscow may dismiss Metropolitan Philaret
The issue will be discussed at the meeting of the Saint Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow on May 24.
According to the ROC statute, every member of higher orders of clergy who reaches the age of 75 has to send an application for dismissal to the Patriarchy. The Patriarchy takes the opinion of the Saint Synod into account and can take a decision to accept or decline the application, informs BelTA referring to the press secretary of the Belarusian exarchate Alexi (Shynkevich).
The Metropolitan and Minsk and Slutsk Philaret, Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus has also sent the application.
