Murdered Russian lawyer, journalist remembered in Minsk

Lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, who were recently murdered in Moscow, were commemorated on Fenruary 1 in Minsk.
Some 15 young people gathered at 1900 in front of the Russian embassy in Minsk, holding lit candles and the pictures of the killed. Guards tried to disperse the action, but the youngsters told officers that they were expressing solidarity with the Russian civic society and protesting against the killings of journalists in Russia and around the world.

The police guards copied the passport details of the action participants. After 30 minutes, the youth ended the action.

Lawyer Syanislav Markelov and Novaya Gazeta reporter Anastasia Baburova were killed by a hitman on January 19 in central Moscow. The police opened a criminal case over the murder.

The remembrance actions were held on February 1 in various countries of the world.
