Nasha Niva gets warning for 'Godfather'

Nasha Niva newspaper has got two warnings from Ministry of Information over the past week. The Ministry said it detected press law violations in the two articles which mention Godfather film. Officials accused the newspaper of disseminating the false information. Firstly, they said it was lies that the edition with the article about Godfather film had been confiscated. Secondly, officials disagreed with the article titled "BRSM advertises Godfather film". They said the action of BRSM (pro-governmental youth union) did not aim to advertise the film.

Nasha Niva editor-in-chief Andrei Skurko objects to accusations and the warnings and says they will be appealed in court.

Under the press law, two warnings are formally sufficient to close the newspaper down.
