New price for Russian gas not to influence the country’s economy – Ministry of Economy
Starting from July Belarus will be paying 100 USD per 1 thousand cubic meters of Russian gas.
The Belarusian Ministry of Economy states that the increase in the price will not influence the economy of our country. Let us remind you that the new price is confirmed by the contract signed by Belarusian authorities and “Gazprom” at the end of 2006.
Belarusian enterprises have been paying for gas according to this tariff since January 1. The adaptation period during which Belarus was paying Russia only 55% of the price lasted for half a year.
The rest of the money was accumulated in the stabilizing fund. Now the money can be used for a final settlement of accounts with “Gazprom”. According to the Belarusian-Russian agreement, in 2011 our country will be paying the same amount of money for Russian gas as Europe does. Only transport expenses will be an exception.
