Next session of House of Representatives to be held on September 14
The date of the presidential elections has not been discussed at the today’s session of the House of Representatives. The head of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna left for a CEC meeting soon afterwards.
Only the documents that had already been declared were on the agenda – the budget for 2011, the Tax and Budget Codes
According to an ERB reporter in the House of Representatives Zmitser Lukashuk, the heads of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts, the head of the Security Council, the deputy head of the President’s Administration and the deputy Attorney General were present at the session. Foreign diplomats accredited in Belarus also attended the meeting.

The head of the Ministry of Finance Andrei Harkavets and the deputy head of the corresponding commission of the House of Representatives Mechyslau Kastsyuk have presented a draft of amendments and changes in the Tax Code to deputies.
Deputies of the House of Representatives approved it in the first reading. There were no remarks and nobody asked the speakers any questions. It took deputies less than 15 minutes to pass the bill.
The draft of amendments and changes in the Tax Code was presented by Mr. Harkavets. Deputies needed even less time to pass the bill in the first reading. There were neither remarks nor questions again.
Deputies will discuss the draft of the budget of the Social Protection Fund for 2011 prepared by the Ministry of Labour after that. It is going to be discussed in two readings at a time. The Minister of Labour and Social Protection Mariana Shchotkina will make a speech.

The head of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna has left the oval hall of the House of Representatives to take part in a CEC meeting. Yarmoshyna’s secretary has informed ERB about it.
According to her, it is an internal meeting dedicated to issues of organization of the work of the CEC. Meanwhile, she assured that it was the first time she had heard that the presidential elections had already been appointed for December 12.

A draft of the republican budget for 2011 has been approved by the House of Representatives in the first reading.
Some questions suddenly arose after the report of the Minister of Finance Andrei Harkavets. Deputy Mantsevich wondered whether the increase of wages of workers on a government payroll could result in price escalation. Harkavets promised that inflation and price escalation would not nullify the wage increase.
According to him, it will be done with the help of budget grants and control over price escalation. Deputies wondered what the cost of energy carriers was going to be like according to the budget. However, Harkavets did not specify the price. He said it was necessary to wait for the results of negotiations in Moscow.
