“Night of the Museums” took place in Minsk yesterday

Festive events were organized in the framework of the “Night of the Museums” in Minsk.
The “Night Féerie” started with a performance of the Belarusian puppet show in Maxim Bahdanovich museum.

Employees of this museum revived the ancient puppet show together with the employees of its Minsk affiliate “Belaruskaya Hatka” at the beginning of the 1990s.

After the performance the event moved to the spot in front of one of the museum’s buildings built in modern style.

Songs of famous and young Belarusian musicians Ales Kamotski, Andrei Baranau, Paval Kuzich and Eduard Heidarau were performed there.


The museum of history and culture prepared a programme “Occupation and holidays of Belarusians in different times”.

In one of the halls you could play chess made to resemble the ancient figures with the state coach of the Belarusian chess team and with the international expert Yauhen Machalau, in the second – get to know about the secretes of cooking of Belarusian dishes of the 18th century and in the third one – read a message of our ancestors.

Moreover, museum employees prepared a puppet show and a shadow pantomime.

The National Museum of Arts presented a festive performance “Behind the mask of night”.

Those who arrived in self-made masks were given free tickets. The best mask was chosen in the end and its owner got a prize.

All the time a jazz band "Chiefs band" were playing in the lobby and a Minsk DJ Pasha Pioneer presented electro house music in the museum’s new building.

The idea of the international venture “Night of the Museums” belongs to the Louvre. More than 2.000 European museums have joined it since 1999.
