No criminal case to be started because of Yana Palyakova’s suicide

Salihorsk office of the Public Prosecutor has refused to start a criminal case to investigate the suicide of a human rights activist Yana Palyakova. Radio Liberty has informed about it.
There are no signs indicating that Yana Palyakova was driven to suicide, claimed an employee of the Office of the Public Prosecutor.

Let us remind you that a human rights defender Yana Palyakova committed suicide in her flat in Salihorsk on the night of March 7. Salihorsk court returned the woman guilty of false evidence against a policeman there days before. She was sentenced to 2.5 years in a labour camp. Yana Palyakova did not plead guilty and told her acquaintances that she would never be a prisoner after the trial.
