No detentions reported during unauthorized pickets in Vitsebsk

A picket to mark the Human Rights Day took place in the evening of December 10 in the center of Vitsebsk.
The action was not authorized by the local authorities, but police did not act to arrest. Some 15 activists from the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front, For Freedom movement and other opposition groups were handing out leaflets and brochures to by-passers.

Several people stood with their mouths muzzled, holding the independent daily Narodnaya Volya newspaper in their hands. Officers initially looked into the contents of the leaflets and brochures but would not interfere with the course of the action, reports ERB correspondent Yadviha Stasheuskaya in Vitsebsk.
