No more Wi-Fi cards without passports
The Belarusian Internet has stopped being anonymous. The “Beltelecom” company has announced new terms of services for Internet users in service centers. All those who would like to work on the Internet will have to show their passports to administrators. Furthermore, it is impossible to buy Wi-Fi cards without a passport anymore.
The same rule will be introduced in private Internet clubs, a press secretary of “Beltelecom” Alyaksei Fedarynchyk has informed ERB about it. You will have to show your passport or any other ID there. Administrators of Internet clubs will have to note down the user’s ID information. Fedarynchuk could not answer what had to be done about teenagers younger than 16 as they did not have passports. He said that the question had to be redirected to the legislator.
Thus, “Beltelecom” refers to decree #60 that has come into power today.
