Nyaklyayeu may be forbidden to take part in elections

The leader of a civil campaign “Tell the Truth” Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu may be forbidden to take part in the presidential elections, notes an online edition “Us”.  According to the Election Code, a Belarusian citizen above the age of 35 who has permanently lived in Belarus for 10 years prior to the elections may become the President of Belarus. Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu emigrated at the end of 1990s and lived in Poland and Finland for about 5 years. It means the legislation forbids him to run for President.  By the way, Zyanon Paznyak had the same problem in 2001. Nevertheless, the Constitutional Court allowed the registration of his initiative groups referring to “the state’s good will”.
