Observers suspected of beating election committee member in Rahachou
Strangers beat an election committee member on the night after the election in Rahachou. Local democratic activists who were observers there were summoned for an interrogation on December 23. A member of the local election committee Leanid Belavusau was beaten by two strangers at 2.30 a.m. on the night after the election, said a BPF Party activist Ihar Zaitsau in an interview with BelaPAN. “According to the investigator, the victim assumed that he had been beaten because he was an election committee member. We have been summoned to the police office because we were observers there: entrepreneur Uladzimir Tamkovich and me”, said the activist.
Accorndg to Zaitsau, he has given evidence that he was at home after the vote count had ended and did not go out after 10 p.m.
Tamkovich will have to arrive at the police office on December 24 at 10 a.m.
