Officials refute okayed euthanasia reports
The information about a possible approval of euthanasia in Belarus has not been confirmed. The Rosbalt news agency yesterday quoted a source at the Health Ministry as saying that euthanasia would be approved in this country.
Helath Ministry spokesperson Natallya Bartman told the European Radio for Belarus that she heard it for the first time that euthanasia would eventually be okayed in Belarus.
Lawmaker Siarhei Kastsyan told told the European Radio for Belarus that this issue was not discussed in the parliament. He believes that if euthanasia is approved, there would be a lot of space for abuse.
According to Kastsyan, the majority of lawmakers, including many doctors, are absolutely against euthanasia.
