Opposition to nominate single candidate in July?
The members of a roundtable meeting plan to pass a united victory strategy and the requirements for the single candidate from the pro-democracy forces during their next session on Monday June 7. One week after, they plan to considers the options of the procedure of electing the single candidate. This decisio was taken today during the meetings of the roundtable meeting, European Coalition leader Mikola Statkevich told the European Radio for Belarus. "I hope that we will manage to approve a united strategy and the requirements for the single candidate on Monday. During the next meeting, we will beging considering all possible options of the nomination procedure. The main criteria will be to elect the single candidate who will meet the most the requirements of the victory strategy", said Statkevich. Today, they already discussed the current victory stretgies, namely a strategy of "a compromise candidate" and the 'Square' strategy. They decided to call it later as the "people's choice strategy".
Alexander Kozulin also finally signed today the previous obligations of the roundtable meeting participants. This document comprises three chapters: the first one contains an appeal to the participants to treat each other decently; the second one includes obligations of a signatory in case he is elected as the single candidate.
The winner also promises to take into account the views of the colleagues over the political and economic reforms.
The meeting was attended by Vital Rymasheuski, Mikola Statkevich, Anatol Lyabedzka, Syarhei Kalyakin, Lyavon Barscheuski, Alexander Kozulin and Uladzimir Kolas.
