Opposition will not send observers to all the electoral districts
Belarusian left party "Fair World" refused to appoint its' candidate at Presidential elections. The left will participate in the campaign "Fair Elections" instead.
It is planned to mobilize people to participate in the elections as members of elections commissions and observers in the framework of the said campaign. Another aim of the campaign is detecting and elimination of violations of electoral legislation, of fabrication of the election results; collection of information about violation of the citizens' rights and making it public.
As it was informed by the Chairman of the party Siarhej Kaliakin, in the interview to the European Radio for Belarus, the campaign would coordinate its activity with human rights activists but would cover more spheres.
Kaliakin: "The point is, human rights activists approach the problem from another angle. They only record violations, they don't work on prevention, or punishment of the guilty. They have other aims. We agree it is also necessary. And we will cooperate with them".
Alongside with that, Kaliakin stated it was not planned to provide observers to all the 6,5 thousand electoral districts.
Kaliakin: "i am convinced it has no sense, because there's probably no necessity to observe somewhere in Chernobyl zone. The opposition has not much support there, because people are poorly informed, or over-informed by the state propaganda, so they would probably vote for some pro-authoritative candidate, and there will be no need for the authorities to fabricate results there. As for big and medium cities, here we will work really hard..."
