OSCE hopes for large-scale international supervision of Belarusian elections
The Belarusian government has expressed a desire to invite an unlimited number of OSCE international observers to the parliamentary elections. The head of the OSCE office in Minsk Hans-Joachim Schmidt told it to journalists on March 18. “I think that the OSCE’s reaction to the decision will be positive because it is an important political step”, - said the head of Minsk OSCE office. Mr. Schmidt informed that they were elaborating rules according to which OSCE observers would be monitoring the future parliamentary elections. “We are interested in working in an atmosphere that will improve contacts within the OSCE”, - noted Hans-Joachim Schmidt.
