Over 155 million web sites registered in the world
The number of internet sites in the world has hit over 155 million by the end of 2007, reports TG Daily referring to a report released by Netcraft
5.4 million new sites emerged in December 2007, while a total of over 50 million web sites appeared last year, 20 million up from 2006. Under the Netcraft methodology, each personal page at blog servers is regarded as a separate web site.
This significant growth can be explained by the growing populatiry of blogging servers last years. The number of sites that were updated regularly grew by 19 million.
Apache remains the most popular software with almost 77 million sites, with Microsoft taking the second position with 55.5. million sites.
