Palevikova fined Br750,000 for Chernobyl March
Valiancina Palevikova, one of the leaders of the United Civil Party, today appeared in a Minsk court on charges of disrupting public order during the Chernobyl March staged by the opposition on April 26.
She was fined by Judge Ludmila Savascian with Br750,000 for violating the public order during mass events. A similar case is in a district court against Yury Ziankovic, and activist with the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front. He will be tried at a later date due to illness.
Police today detained Aliaksej Janukevic, the deputy chair of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front and are searching for Anatol Sidarevich, an activist with the Belarusian Social Democratic Party. All of them are the organizers of the Chernobyl March, reports the human rights center Viasna.
