Pipeline "Druzhba" near Brest burned for 5 hours

The fire rescuers managed to extinguish the fire which had occurred on the spot of oil spill from the "Druzhba" pipeline near the village Hrushauka 20 kilometers away from Brest only around 2 a.m. on December 23. PHOTO REPORT.
According to the representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the pipeline started burning at about 9 p.m. on the previous day. A special commission will investigate the reason for fire. 

There were about 50 units of special machinery at the fire. 

Let us remind you, the pipeline was implemented into exploitation in 1964, 10 years later another parallel branch of bigger diameter - "Druzhba-2" - was constructed. 70-80 million tons of oil comes through the pipeline annually. This is not the first accident at this pipeline. The experts claim the term of pipelines' proper functioning is 30-40 years.
