Poland asks EU to accept 5 post-Soviet states on special conditions
Poland and Sweden have put forward a proposal for the European Union to form organizations of "Eastern Partnership" with Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, reports the Ukrainian official news agency UNIAN. Poland and Sweden are expected to table their proposals on a new policy towards the eastern neighbors for consideration of the EU foreign ministers next Monday.
The Eastern Partnership will include 27 EU member states as well as Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. In the framework of this organization, the countries can negotiate visa-free travel agreements, free trade-zone deals and strategic cooperation.
Belarus will be able to join the new initiative exclusively at the level of experts only.
The European Partnership will be coordinated by the European Commission.
