Poland to hold snap presidential elections in June

Bronislaw Komorowski, the Polish parliament speaker, will announce the date of the early presidential elections after consultations with all the political parties in the country. Under the Constitution, he has taken over the powers of the head of the state after the tragic death of Poland's president Lech Kaczynski.  "It is my duty to set the date of the presidential elections within two weeks", the Russian news agency Ria-Novosti quoted Komorowski as saying.

Poland will observe a week of mourning for the victims of the deadly plane crash near the Russian city of Smolensk.
