Poland to unveil monument to Belarus pilots in April
The authorities of the Polish town of Radam will unveil a monument to the Belarusian pilots in April. The monument is ready reports nn.by. A Su-27 and two crosses -- Orthodox and Catholic -- are depicted on the 2m-high monument.
A memorial sign with the names of the persihed pilots will be unveiled in the military church in Radom. Polish Army Bishoo Tadewusz Polski will lead a memorial service. The prayers will also be attended by Poland's Air Force Commander Gen Andzrej Blasik and Radom Mayor Andrzej Kasztowniak.
A Belarus Air Force Su-27 jet fighter, controlled by Col. Alexander Marfitski and Col. Alexander Zhuraulevich, crashed during an air show in Radom on August 30, 2009.
If the pilots decided to eject, the aircraft would have fallen on residential areas in Malenchen.
