Putin is for increasing presidential term
The Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks that the presidential terms may be extended to 5-7 years.
He announced it to journalists of the Great 8 on the eve of the G-8 summit. “Four years is a rather small term for Russia”, - claimed Putin. “Five, six or seven years would be acceptable for Russia nowadays”, - confirmed the President.
At the same time he noted that he would like to preserve the existing two-term norm of the Constitution that allows one person to be the country’s leader for only two terms in a row.
