Radzіvonau: We will play to win! I can’t imagine anything else
BATE will try to riddle “the Alkmaar Zagadka” (Riddle) in a good mood but it will probably happen without Lihtarovich, Paulau and without wasting time on words on the the football pitch. The Dutch will not understand anyway!
A match of Europa League against Alkmaar AZ may be missed by two BATE halfbacks. The captain Dzmitry Lihtarovich and Alyaksadr Paulau may not take part in the match, informs the manager of the Barysau club Victar Hancharenka:
“It is still not clear, but we cannot exclude the possibility that Lihtarovich and Paulau may play. All the rest are very well-prepared. We are hoping to play a good game tomorrow”.
Not a single Belarusian club has played against any Dutch club before. That is why AZ does not only mean “Alkmaar Zaanstreek” to us, it can also mean “Alkmaar Zagadka” (“Alkmaar Riddle”). And BATE will have a good chance to riddle it: although the club from Alkmaar is inclined to attack, it has not been able to win out matches at UEFA tournaments for seven matches on end – for three years.
On the contrary, Barysau players are hoping to continue their series of victories consisting of three matches of the European Cup. To tell the truth, BATE players are a bit tired: the match against the Dutch club will be the fifth game played by them in two weeks. However, Victar Hancharenka is not putting on the moan:
“I think we can easily switch from the Belarusian Cup to Europa League and back. We celebrated a victory in the last match so we are in a good mood before the match against AZ. Of cause it is difficult. However, we are not going to complain because we know that many clubs have such a tight schedule. I am sure that many players and coaches would envy us. That is why our attitude to the tight schedule is normal”.
In the coach’s opinion, the Brazilian forward of the Alkmaar club Jônatas is posing a major threat to goalkeeper Syarhei Veramko. BATE has got to know the play style of AZ very well: they even sent “spies” to matches of the Dutch Cup.
“AZ is a well organized and highly skilled team. They like pressing and keeping the ball, - says Victar Hancharenka. – However, I cannot say they resemble anyone… I cannot draw any parallel”.
Traditionally, Vital Radzivonau will be the main weapon of the Belarusian team. BATE has not managed to score a goal in 7 matches of Euroepa League only once this year. That is why the forward is sure that the Barysau club will think only about a victory in the football ground:
Vital Radzivonau: “The team is in battle mood. The guys will play with only one thought: to win! I cannot imagine anything else! We have already accustomed to playing against Europeans. Speaking about the previous matches against Kiev “Dinamo”… naturally, two post-Soviet teams met in the football ground and wanted to prove that they are the best… and some talks started in the football pitch. Personally, I dislike the situation. It will not happen to AZ”.
