Famous Polish singer refuses to be jury member at “Slavonic Bazaar”

Mieczysław Szcześniak was invited to become a jury member of “Slavonic Bazaar” on the eve of Andrzej Poczobut’s detention, informs Gazeta Wyborcza.

However, the singer has sent a letter to the organizers of the festival expressing his gratitude for the invitation and explaining that he cannot attend it.

"Hard times have come both for Belarusians and Poles living among you. It can be seen in everyday life. Those who are behind bars, like Andrzej Poczobut and many other your compatriots, can feel it. I cannot pretend that it is no concern of mine, make money, have fun and drink champagne while other people are being persecuted and are suffering before your very eyes”, - writes Mieczysław Szcześniak in his open letter.

Mieczysław Szcześniak promises to the organizers of “Slavonic Bazaar” to come to Vitsebsk one day “with pleasure to enjoy your freedom” and wishes courage and hope to Belarusians.
