Garbage truck drivers' strike in Barysau is over. (updated)
The strikers were promised higher salaries (by 20%) since October and Br 500 thousand to buy vegetables.
Employees of the communal enterprise "Zhyllyo" came to their administration with complaints again at 8.00 today. Yesterday they went on a strike to protest against low salaries. These people earn about a million roubles and their salaries have remained unchanged for about three years. The administration promised to raise the salaries by 20% after yesterday's action. However, today the garbage truck drivers decided that it was not enough.
11.20 Barysau activist Syarhej Salash has informed live on air to Euroradio that there are about 100 participants of the strike. Yesterday's promises to raise the salaries by 20% cooled the protest moods a bit and part of the people left to get back to work.
People are standing at the base located in Vatutsin Street. No one is going to work. According to ex-press.by, representatives of Barysau district executive committee and the state control committee arrived there at about 10.00.
11.30 According to the information provided by ex-press.by, the negotiations were over at 11.00 and the strikers got back to work. They are satisfied with their strike's results.
