Independent observers: 18% voted early
The data have been provided by "For Fair Elections" campaign.
According to campaign's coordinator Syarhei Kalyakin, their observers watched the electoral process at 657 polling stations in 36 electoral districts all over the country for the whole 5 days of early voting. Kalyakin says the turnout made 19,4%. The Executive Secretary of the Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD) steering committee Dzyanis Sadouski estimated the turnout at 17,1%. Thus, approximately 18% of registered voters cast their ballots early, according to the independent observers, BelaPAN reports. Euroradio reminds that the Ccentral Elections Commission has estimated the early voting turnout at 25.9%.
Victar Karnyaenka, a coordinator of "For Fair Elections" campaign, reports that the biggest turnout was at those polling stations where student dormitories are located. For example, the early voting turnout at the Belarusian National Technical University was up to 90%.
