Judges to be checked on state languages knowledge?
The Consitutional Court will consider the necessity of checking the level of knowledge of state languages by judges on a legislative basis.
This is stated in the Consitutional Court's response to the enquiry made by the initiator of a personal campaign "Office Administration in Belarusian" Ihar Sluchak.
Ihar Sluchak has informed to BelaPAN that he sent appeals with a suggestion to put checking of the Belarusian language knowledge of applicants for a judge's position on a legislative basis, as it is required by the law, in order not to allow the officials who don't speak Belarusian to work as judges, to the Constitutional Court, to other courts of belarus, to the public prosecutor's office and to the Ministry of Justice.
"I have received just formal replies, like, this issue has been regulated and there is no necessity to improve the procedure of checking the Belarusian language knowledge of the judges, from the Supreme Court, from the Supreme Economic court, from the public prosecutor's office and from the Ministry of Justice. However, I am convinced that the problem exists here and I am pleased that the Constitutional Court has considered it as a serious one", — Sluchak has said.
According to the activist, he also sent more than a hundred appeals suggesting to keep office administration in the Belarusian language, to different ministries, bureaus, organizations, executive authorities, before.
