Lukashenko promises Grybauskaite to register all candidates

Belarus seeks to hold presidential elections not worse than the previous polls, Alexander Lukashenka said at a news conference after talks with Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite in Minsk.

Lukashenka is quoted by Belapan news agency as saying that the Belarusian authorities are interested in having all potential contenders registered as candidates. Dalia Grybauskaite said Lukashenka promised her during the talks that all candidates would be registered and observers would be present at the polls.

Lithuanian president noted her country was interested in improving relations with Belarus. The official news agency Belta reports that Grybauskaite reminded that Lithuania is a EU member and will take over OSCE's rotating presidency next year.
