Pochobut’s trial to be resumed today
The hearing of June 14 will continue.
Journalist and activist of the Union of Poles Andrzej Pochobut will be resumed in Hrodna Lenin District Court at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. He is accused of insult of President Lukashenka and of libel. Pochobut’s articles in the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza were the reason to start a criminal case.
The journalist’s lawyers will make their speeches and he will pronounce his pre-imposition statement. The hearing is closed, but Pochobut’s relatives and friends are supporting him near the building of the court. Numerous Polish politicians and journalists including U.S. President Barack Obama have also supported Pochobut.
