Rights defender to go on trial

Vitsyebsk-based human rights defender Leanid Svetsik goes on trial on June 10. He is accused of ethnic hate crime.   He was charged with inciting ethnic hate and defaming Belarusian leader Alyaksandr Lukashenka in 2008, but the second charge was dropped.

Judge Halina Urbanovich is expected to examine him and five alleged victims, Svetsik told ERB.
