Russian banks issue Rur6bn loan to Belarus

Russia's four leading banks -- Sberbank, Vnesheconombank, Gazprombank and Alfa Bank -- have issued a syndicated loan of 6 billion Russian roubles to the Belarusian Ministry of Finance for the period of more than one year. Sberbank has been appointed as a loan agent, reports the Russian business news agency RBK. The Russian banks said in a statement that the loan "will be aimed to support the development of intergation and cooperative ties between the two countries and will foster a steady economic growth of the Republic of Belarus".

Sberbank, Vnesheconombank, Gazprombank and Alfa Bank have also been appointed to allocate Belarus' state bonds, valued in the Russian currency and worth Rur15 billion, on the Russian stock exchange.

The issue of Belarus' state bonds, valued in the Russian currency, will become the first issue of foreign country's securities on the Russian stock exchange.

In January 2010 Belarus received a loan from the World Bank. On December 3, 2009 the World Bank approved a loan of $200 million to support the development of the national economy in the time of the global crisis and to fund economic reforms for a sustainable economic growth of Belarus.
