Russian energy monopoly refutes reports about disrupted talks with Belarus

The Russian energy giant Inter RAO EES has refuted reports that it terminated negotiations with Belarus' state energy company Belenergo over the transit of the Russian electricity via Belarus to the Kaliningrad enclave. Earlier reports suggested today that the talks were stopped due to technical reasons.
Timur Belov, a deputy head of press service at the Russian company, assured the European Radio for Belarus that the sides were on the phone to agree on the date of the next Belarus-Russian meeting on electricity supplies and transit.

“We have not even suspended (the talks). In fact, we are finalizing the date when the next round of negotiations will take place. There are some organizational and technical matters. Somone from Belenergo is absent on a business trip, someone from our company is on a business trip as well. I think the talks will take place soon. It has been discussed during our consultations over the phone”.

The talks were expected to continue today in Minsk.
