Russia's Ambassador: Lukashenka's victory was expected
Aliaksandr Lukashenka's victory in the election was expected, said the ambassador of Russia to Belarus Aliaksandr Surykau at the press-conference in Minsk on December 23. "We expected more than 70% of votes for Lukashenka, and this is the way it happened. Everything was clear to us since the very beginning", — said Surykau.
He underlined that it had been clear for the Belarusian opposition as well, which "counted upon the Square since the very beginning". "It was an attempt of the yellow, or orange revolution, an attempt to show off before the West", — said Surykau.
To his opinion, the Belarusian opposition needs to learn how to create and structurize political parties so they could agitate voters not only on the election year. "In this case there might be some results, — stated the Ambassador. — As for our observation, the opposition candidates couldn't fill 6 thousand places in the precinct election commissions even altogether".
He underlined that the Belarusian opposition "should learn how to win in normal competitive struggle, not to do foolish things".
