Secondary housing costs drop in Minsk

The costs of the secondary housing in Minsk will be dropping till late August 2008. At the same time, the pace of price reduction will slow down, Mikhail Prastalupau, the chairman of the Belarusian Realtors Association, said in an interview with BELTA. Currently, business acitivities in the market are down which is usual for the summer season. Therefore, the costs in this segment of the market will continue dropping but with a slower pace than in winter and spring.

As of June 1, 2008, one square meter of the housing in Minsk hovered around $1730-1720 against $1815 in February and $1835 in January. The costs of the Soviet-time apartments are dropping. At the same time, the costs of the elite housing will continue to grow. The prices of the housing in the center of the capital will also keep growing.

Presently, there are around 7000 apartments on sale in Minsk. This number has remained almost unchanged in the past several months. One-bedroom apartments cost an aberage of $65,000; two-bedroom apartments ($80,000); three-bedroom apartments ($100,000).
