September 8 - International Day of Solidarity of Journalists
This holiday has been celebrated since 1958 in accordance with the decision of the International Organization of Journalists in memory of Czech journalist Julius Fucik , a communist party activist. Arrested by gestapo in 1942 in Prague, Julius Fucik wrote his most famous book "Notes from the Gallows" in prison. The book was published in 1945 and then translated into more than 70 languages of the world. In 1943 the Nazi sentenced the Czech journalist to death.
