Siarhei Kastsian withdraws from election race

Famous MP Siarhei Kastsian has taken an abrupt decision to withdraw from the election race even before the registration as a candidate.  In an interview with the European Radio for Belarus, he explained that he changed his mind:

"At times, there are personal motives to rule your decisions, you know".

Kastsian was set to run in the Homel region in the Paleskaya constituency No 43. His rivals would be UCP member Mikalai Haurylenka and Siarhei Kanoplich, the chairman of the Elsk district executive committee.

Nevertheless, Siarhei Kastsian is going to remain in politics. He says he will chair the "Slavic" parliament.

Siarhei Kastsian: "I will definitely continue to work as the leader of the Belarusian Slavic Committee. I has not been dismissed from the post of the chairman of the Slavic Parliamentary Union, eiher... Therefore, I will continue running the parliament".
