Speaker at nomination of All-Belarusian Congress delegates detained for 10 days

An employee of the Valozhyn district executive committee cultural department Vital Karatsiuk has been  detained for 10 days. The reason for that was his speech at the session dedicated to nomination of delegates to the All-Belarusian Congress, reports nn.by. The session was attended by nearly 400 people. The possible delegates were the first to speak, then there should have been a concert, according to the plan. Vital Karatsiuk was to take part in the concert. One of the organizers noticed he was under the influence of alcohol and asked him to leave the stage. He obeyed and went down to the audience.

When the Head of the executive committee asked if someone wanted to give a speech, Karatsiuk offered himself as a volunteer. He criticised the previous speakers, the majority of whom were the local officials, from the stage. He said he had enough of empty words. After that his microphone was turned off, and Karatsiuk was led offstage and taken to the police department. Some of the people in the audience supported Karatsiuk shouting he was the only one telling the truth.

The head of the cultural department Vikentsiy Adamovich refused to comment the incident with his employee.
