Stalinism vicitims remembered in Kurapaty
In Kurapaty, the site at outskirts of Minsk, the victims of Stalinism were remembered on September 29. This action is traditionally held on this day of every month. Some 20 people, youth activists and entrepreneurs, former Gulag prisoners and members of the Belarusian society for the protection of history and culture monuments, took part in the action. They laid flowers to memorial signs, lit candles and stood a moment of silence for the memory of innocent victims of Stalinism repressions.
Uladzimir Ramanouski who was born in Gulag noted the rights were routinely infringed during the years of Stalin's rule. He compared the outcome of elections with this punishments.
Police were there to monitor the action.
